Defensive Clearance
by ddemmin on Jan.14, 2010, under Soccer Tips
At some point in a game, your team may be under pressure from the attacking team. There will be a need for the defenders to clear the ball out of the defensive area.
If you are using your head or feet to make a defensive clearance, In order for the clearance to be considered successful, three things must happen.
- Height – The defensive clearance must be high and away from the ground.
- Width – The defensive clearance must be wide and away from the middle of the field.
- Distance – The clearance must be far away from the goal you are defending.
Clearing the ball high gives other defenders on your team time to reorganize defensively. Clearing the ball far and wide prevents an immediate attack on goal. So the next time you are attempting to clear a ball in a game or in practice, remember height, width and distance.

I Need Some Strong Aggressive Soccer Players, Who’s In?
by ddemmin on Jan.06, 2010, under Uncategorized
I just got a call from a friend in South Asia and his team is looking for some practice games. “They are very good”, he said. I will need to assembled an All Star team. So I am looking for players that are STRONG and AGGRESSIVE and are not afraid of players that are much bigger than them.
Because of expected injuries, everyone is guaranteed to play. I am going to need about 30 players. Let me know if you are in. I have already gotten commitments from Chaney Bush, Abi Bush, Taylor Collum, Rodney Self, Para Massey, Ryan Crandall, Solane Bush, and Mason Shortt.
I also sent out some invitations to some talented players in Rochester NY and they were very excited. Mara Rodriguez, Ana Ecklund, Sarah Stark and Claire Mezzoprete are also in.
Thanks to all of you guys for agreeing to play without even seeing your opponents. Below is a video of your opponents so please take a look and study their style of play. Number 10 and 15 are their key players. I will understand if you choose to back out.
TO START GETTING READY FOR THIS GAME, I WILL NEED everyone TO DO 3000 PUSH UP’S A DAY and run at least 10 miles backwards with 10 pound ankle weights on on each leg.
